Even a Little Goes a Long way

Posted by: Angela on Tuesday, September 25, 2007

Since Heather’s new website launched on September 21 with the Paypal Donation Options, Heather’s family has received a total of $95 in donations. We are hoping that this amount will increase significantly, but Heather’s family is grateful for anything they can get. The Donation section of the website was created so that a person that wants to donate can choose their own amount to donate through Paypal, just once if they want to, or a person can choose to give as little as $5 per month that is automatically deducted from their Paypal or bank account each month. You may think that $5 may not make that much of a difference, but if every visitor were to donate just $5 per month, it would make such a difference, and it would hopefully help to keep Heather at home with her family and not in a nursing home, which is what they are afraid of if donations do not increase. I hope that you will take some time to look over the donation options, and if you want to help Heather and her family, even a small amount will go a long way if we all pitch in.

I will be posting donation progress on the site once a week so we can all see the progress. If you can help, please don’t hesitate. Every little bit will help. Thank you so much!

Heather, you have all of my respect and much of my sympathy! I was an abused wife for many, many years. In March of 1994, my husband shot me. The bullet passed through my right breast, leaving only sharpnel and scars as damage. At the time, I was in Law Enforcement in Maricopa County and had a great deal of difficulty admitting even to my self that I was a victim. In the long legal battle for justice, I came to learn there are so many women who do not know how to fight or are just too scared to stand up for themselves! Now I live in Colorado and work as a volunteer vicims’ advocate for a domestic violence victims. The greatest joy I have is seeing a victim reach safety and the knowledge she/he has broken the chain of violence. I also work with the children of these horrific situations.

You are spectacular! May God grant you every wish and keep you strong!

How You Can Help

Heather Grossman's ex-husband hired a man to kill her in 1997. He was not successful in his attempt to take her life, but the gunshot wound left Heather paralyzed from the neck down. Heather was just 31 years old with three young children. During the years since the incident, Heather's family has been doing everything they can to keep her alive and well, but expenses are high, and they need as much help as they can get.

Since Heather's new website launched on September 21 with the Paypal Donation Options, Heather's family has received donations from quite a few generous people. Please take a moment to see who has donated to Heather's family so far.

My Story

I’m a mother, mentor and a survivor of domestic violence. Ten years ago domestic violence forever changed my life and the lives of my family. As the bullet penetrated my spinal cord, it shattered many hopes, dreams and my ability to function as I once did but it did not destroy me or my will to live. Ten years ago my ex-husband, Ron Samuels, hired men to murder me. I died at the scene of the crime but was brought back to life by a paramedic.
